Solar Powered EV
The first solar panel production car, the Lightyear 0, has launched! Production expected this fall with first deliveries following.
Making range a priority, Lightyear 0 has a smaller battery and the most efficient powertrain in the world. That coupled with the power of the sun, you can potentially add an additional 44 miles.
(186 miles can be added overnight using a regular home outlet)
The solar panels are distributed along the top of the car on the hood, roof and trunk.
*Each hour in the sun = 6 Miles of Range.
Buzzing around in this Lightyear will cost you around $262,000.
Top Speed: 100mph
0-60: Approx 10 seconds
Range: 388 Miles without stopping (+44 additional miles)
There are 10 beautifully muted exterior color choices.
They are only producing less than 100K of these guys.
*The future includes a more affordable EV for around $31K. The forecast for these solar sun catchers is hopefully 2025.
Lightyear 0 is currently available in the EU, Switzerland, Norway and the UK.
