Tesla officially opened Select Superchargers in their network to non-Tesla EVs in the US, following a successful pilot program in Europe. This move is part of the company’s commitment to increase EV adoption and support the Biden administration’s $7.5 billion plan to expand EV charging options for more Americans. Be aware, there are not many stations open in the US for non-Tesla drivers and many states are not even in the select group.

Tesla has installed new Supercharger equipment that allows non-Tesla EVs to charge at select stations across the US. To use the Supercharger network, non-Tesla owners need to download the Tesla app (version 4.18.0 or higher) and create a Tesla account. They can then select “Charge Your Non-Tesla” in the app to find the nearest participating Supercharger site. Payment can be made through the app, either per charge or with a monthly membership for reduced rates.

While the exact number of open Superchargers for non-Tesla EVs may vary, Tesla has committed to having at least 7,500 chargers available for all EVs by the end of 2024. This includes at least 3,500 new and existing Superchargers along highways and 4,000 slower destination chargers at locations like hotels and restaurants.

As Tesla continues to expand its Supercharger network and open it to non-Tesla EVs, it is expected that more stations will become available in the coming months.  Be sure to verify if any of the select chargers are in your area.
