Why Do EVs Use A Special Tire?

1. They are heavier than gas powered cars, so they need tires that can handle the extra weight.
2. They have more torque than ICEs, so they need tires that can provide better grip.
3. Tires in EVs wear down with a lot of stop/ go traffic from regenerative braking. The tires are constantly being used to slow the vehicle down, even when the brakes aren’t being used.

Here are some of the features that EV tires should have:

*  High load capacity: EV tires need to be able to handle the extra weight of an EV
*  Good grip: EV tires need to provide good grip, especially in wet, cold or hot conditions.
*  Long tread life: EV tires need to last longer because they are more likely to be driven in stop-and-go traffic.
*  Low Rolling Resistance – This is the force that opposes the motion of the tire as it rolls on the road surface. It affects the energy efficiency and range.

Popular EV Tire Brands Include:

Bridgestone
Continental
Goodyear
Hankook
Michelin
Maxxis
Nankang
Pirelli
Sumitomo
Yokohama

Note: Not all EV tires are created equal. Some are better for certain driving conditions.
It is definitely possible to use regular tires on your EV, but to get the most out of your tires- I would go EV specific.

Go electric ✌️
