EPA Range VS WLTP VS CLTC Range?

Did you know the range estimates for the exact same vehicle can fluctuate depending on how the EV is tested?
Did you know the tests are simulated? Here are 3 types of testing along with some of their criteria:

EPA Range: The EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) tests electric vehicles under controlled laboratory conditions to estimate how far a vehicle can go on a single charge. They take into account factors like city and highway driving, temperature, wind speed and accessory usage to give you an idea of how long before needed to be charged.

WLTP Range: WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) used in Europe, a comprehensive test that factors vehicle weight, aerodynamics, and driving behavior. The test is divided into four parts, each with different speeds, accelerations, and decelerations. They simulate real-world driving conditions to give you a better idea of how far you can go before needing to recharge.

CLTC Range: CLTC(China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) China’s testing procedure which includes various factors like vehicle weight, aerodynamics and driving behavior to estimate an EVs range. It includes a standard test cycle and optional modes for specific driving scenarios like highway and mountainous driving.

Remember- these tests are all estimates. Your range will be based on your particular driving scenarios.

Go electric ✌️
