Recently, a Florida state lawmaker questioned whether EVs should be allowed on evacuation routes due to lack of a complete infrastructure to ensure enough electrons to get you the h3ll outta there.  Florida is looking to handle some roadside charging assistance emergencies with portable chargers so they may service both stranded ICEs & EVs. (No particular brand noted in article).

Here are 2 ways we can address the issue:

1. AAA has released their own specialized mobile charging service with 30 minute Level 2 charge.   They will use the Blink IQ-200-M mobile charging unit with standard J1772 plug.  This should allow for 10+ miles to get to a station.  The first of the AAA dead battery roadside chargers can be found can be found in:

Orlando, FL
Nashville, TN
Charlotte, NC
Denver, CO
Grand Rapids, MI
Avon, MA
Providence, RI
West Springfield, MA
Bend, OR
Portland, OR
Indianapolis, IN
San Francisco, CA
Philadelphia, PA
Harrisburg, PA

**As a AAA member, this is a free, 24/7 service.  The plan is to keep rolling out locations.  AAA will be using Blink Portable Charger Level 2 Generated-Powered Solution’s.

2. You can buy your own mobile charger from Blink.  Well, you could if they were in stock.

• Portable and modular
• Free-standing, doesn’t require installation
• Non-networked charging station
• Simple plug-in to charge use
• Supports 240 VAC charging
• Compatible with all electric vehicles. Tesla adapter required.
• Provides up to 9.6kW continuously
• Charges up to 0.5 to 1 mile of range per minute- Depending on the EV

I couldn’t find current pricing on their site – but researching past articles- looks like they are somewhere in the $5-7K range.

*Also keep in mind- that without electricity, gas pumps can’t dispense gas without a generator or an alternate power source.

Go electric ✌️
