Electric Vehicles do not emit emissions when Idling. But ICE vehicles do.

Idling in an ICE is traditionally known as leaving your car’s engine running when you aren’t in motion. This practice not only wastes fuel and causes unnecessary wear and tear on vehicles but also releases toxic pollutants into the air.

To minimize the impact of idling, here are 5 simple steps that you can take:

1. One option is to purchase an EV or Full Hybrid.

2. Turn off the engine when parked or stopped, except in traffic.

3. Avoid using a remote starter – it could encourage unnecessary idling.

4. Signs indicating no-idle zones at schools and other locations should be obeyed.

5. Another solution is to choose a vehicle with stop/start technology. This system automatically shuts down the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop while allowing essential components like the air conditioning and sound systems to continue running. ***Due to the semiconductor chip shortage, some stop/start features may be skipped over, so it is important to check with the dealer/seller before making a purchase.

It is crucial to become more mindful of our habits to reduce emissions and improve air quality. By implementing these small steps, we can help minimize our impact on the environment and avoid fines in some states.

Idling in an EV means leaving your vehicle parked at a charging station after the vehicle is done charging. In an effort to keep the charging traffic flow going, there are fees ranging in price for each minute your EV “idles”.  Just don’t though.

Go electric ✌️
