Senator Portantino introduces ZEV (Zero-Emission Vehicle) Conversion Rebate.

Bill 301 offers up to $2K rebate for qualifying conversions ICE to EV in California.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Conversion Kits are sets of components designed to convert a conventional gas powered car into an EV.

The process of converting a car to electric power involves removing the ICE and gas related components and replacing them with parts in the kit.

EV conversion is a more environmentally friendly alternative to gas-powered cars. It could be a more affordable option for those who already own a car and want to convert it to electric.

However, it’s important to note that the conversion will require a certain level of technical expertise.

Make sure that the converted vehicle meets all safety standards and regulations, and to consult with a professional in EV conversions before beginning.

An Electric Vehicle (EV) Conversion Kit typically includes the following components:

  1. Battery Pack: A high-capacity battery pack provides the energy needed to power the electric motor. The type and size of the battery pack can vary depending on the needs of the conversion project.
  2. Electric Motor: The electric motor is the primary component that propels the converted electric vehicle. The size and power of the motor will depend on the make and model of the car being converted, as well as the desired driving range.
  3. Charging System: The charging system is responsible for recharging the battery pack when needed. It typically includes a charging cord and a charger, and may also include a built-in voltage regulator to ensure that the battery is charged safely.
  4. Controller: The controller is a central component that manages the flow of power between the battery and the motor. It controls the speed and torque of the motor, and may also have features such as regenerative braking to help extend the driving range of the vehicle.
  5. Wiring and Connectors: The wiring and connectors are necessary to connect all of the components in the conversion kit and ensure that they are communicating with each other correctly.

Some EV Conversion Kits may also include additional components, such as a gearbox, an accelerator pedal, or an instrumentation panel to display information such as battery level and speed. However, these components can vary widely depending on the kit and the needs of the conversion project.
