The Cybertruck: Perfect for Your Garage and Your Cargo Needs

The Tesla Cybertruck is a unique and impressive vehicle, and it’s also surprisingly practical. At just under 19 feet long, it’s short enough to fit in most garages, but it still has a spacious interior and a long cargo bed.

The Cybertruck’s four doors make it easy for passengers to get in and out, and the frunk provides additional storage space. The cargo bed is six feet long, (which is longer than the bed on the Ford F-150 Lightning).

In an article by Techtimes, titled THE CYBERTRUCK IS FIT FOR GARAGES, ALSO FOR CARGO”, the author discusses the Cybertruck’s newly released size specs,  here’s a quote from the article:

“The impressive sub-19-foot size of the Cybertruck is adept for most garages without the need to adjust them to fit the car. However, this does not compromise the overall capabilities of the vehicle, particularly as it retains four doors for all passengers to access, a six-foot-long bed for cargo, and additional storage in its frunk.

Notably, it is shorter than Ford’s F-150 Lightning which comes in at 19.25 feet long, but only features a 5.5-foot bed at its rear”.

Can’t Fit Your EV in Your Garage? How To Charge

As electric vehicles (EVs) become more popular, homeowners are starting to realize that their garages may not be big enough to accommodate them. Some EVs, like the Ford F-150 Lightning, are simply too large to fit in a standard garage.

If you’re in this situation, don’t worry! There are still plenty of ways to charge your EV at home. Here are a few options:

  • Install an outdoor charger. This is a great option if you have a dedicated space for your EV outside. There are a variety of outdoor chargers available, so you can find one that fits your needs and budget.
  • Use an extension cord. If you have a short driveway, you may be able to use an extension cord to reach your EV from your garage. This is a less expensive option than installing an outdoor charger, but it’s not as convenient.
  • Charge at a public charging station. There are many public charging stations available, so you can usually find one near your home or work. This is a convenient option, but it can be more expensive than charging at home.

In an article by Capital One, titled “WHAT TO DO IF YOUR EV IS TOO BIG FOR YOUR GARAGE?”, the author discusses solutions for that particular problem:

If you have a garage, getting an indoor charger installed is usually a cost-effective, convenient solution. But what if your EV won’t fit in that space? The situation may seem unlikely, given how many tiny, efficient EVs are out there, but some electric vehicles are simply too big for older garages. The Ford F-150 Lightning, for example, is almost 20 feet long and more than 6 feet tall. Its width from mirror to mirror is about 8 feet — according to The Spruce, a popular home-improvement website, the standard width of an older home’s garage door is also 8 feet. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to slide Ford’s electric truck through that opening.”

First Catalytic Converters, now thieves are coming for your Charging Cables! If your EV can’t fit into your garage how can you charge?

Electric vehicle (EV) owners are being warned about a new crime wave: the theft of EV charging cables. These cables are often made of expensive copper wiring, and they can be easily resold or scrapped.

If you own an EV, there are a few things you can do to protect your charging cable from theft.

  • Try to charge your car in a secure location, such as your garage (unless you don’t fit).
  • Consider using a tethered charger that has a charging cable permanently attached to it.
  • You can also use a well-sized padlock to attach your cable to a fence or other secure object.
  • Deter thieves by installing a dashcam with motion sensors.

In an article from TheStreet.com, titled “A New Worry That Every Electric-Vehicle Owner Should Know About”, the author explores the new vehicle part that is going missing:

“Thieves have long targeted the part of your car that converts engine-exhaust pollutants into something less harmful to the environment. Catalytic converters are rich in precious metals, such as platinum, palladium, and rhodium, and they can be and are resold by thieves”.
“It seems that electric vehicle owners are discovering that the cables they use to charge their cars are a hot item for thieves, NBC Los Angeles reported. The thieves either post them on popular resale websites or sell them for scrap metal since they’re full of expensive copper wiring”.
Ideally you should charge your car in your garage, but if that’s not an option, try charging your car away from street view to cut down on risk.”

In short:
*Check your vehicle/ garage dimensions
*Figure out how to Charge Vehicle at home if your vehicle doesn’t fit in garage. (outside charging, extension cords, etc.)
* Once you have a cord outside your garage, you need to protect it from thieves.

Go electric ✌️
