Hertz is offering some incredible discounts on their used Teslas. This “Rent2Buy” program, launched in late 2022, allows you to purchase Teslas that were previously part of their rental fleet. Here’s how it works:

  1. Choose your car- Browse their large selection of Rent2Buy vehicles available for a test rental 👀.
  2. Test it for 3 days- Rent the car for up to 3 days at a special rate or take a complimentary 2-hour test drive ⏱.
  3. Make it yours- Buy the car and they’ll waive the rental charges. In most states, you can purchase it from home. Hertz offers no haggle pricing 👍

‼️ BUT WAIT ‼️

I couldn’t find RANGE anywhere in the listing. 😳 Huge factor!!!

Additionally, when I called corporate office they could not answer what the corporate policy is on the battery degradation allowance and at what percent degradation they sell (like 70% capacity for example)  Also, the customer service rep informed me that there is no battery health testing that they go through.

So DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

Here’s what you need to know about the deals:

✅ Models: The majority of the used Teslas on offer are Model 3s and Model Ys.

✅ Prices: Prices start around $20,000, which is significantly lower than the price of a new Tesla.

✅ Discounts: On top of the already discounted prices, buyers can also qualify for a $4,000 FEDERAL TAX CREDIT FOR USED EVs – provided it’s a one owner and it’s at least 2 model years old. This can bring the total cost down even further.

✅ Hertz offers Financing solutions: for almost every budget

✅ Peace of Mind, Hertz Rent2Buy® BACKS EVERY CAR with a 12 month/12,000 mile powertrain Limited Warranty

✅ Vehicle Protection Plans offered with coverage options of up to 7 years or 100,000 miles- some of the vehicles will hit 100,000 WAY before 7 years.

If you’re shopping for a used Tesla, Hertz’s Rent2Buy program is definitely worth checking out. You can find great deals on popular models, and the cars are still in good condition. However, it’s important to be aware of the potential downsides, such as high mileage, battery degradation, warranty and rental abuse.

Here are some things to keep in mind before you buy:

👍 Get a pre-purchase inspection: It’s always a good idea to have a qualified mechanic inspect any used car before you buy it, especially a used electric car. This will help you identify any potential problems. The vehicles listed are stock photos, so if you are interested, I would buy local or somehow see it in person to know exactly what your vehicle looks like- inside and out.

👍 If possible- get a battery health report.  However, you have 3 days with the vehicle, you may be able to determine that yourself by monitoring consumption from 100% charged.

👍 Consider the warranty: Manufacturer warranty covers 8 years, 100,000 miles, but some of these vehicles are approaching the end of the coverage. Hertz offers a limited warranty on their used Teslas, but it’s not as comprehensive as the warranty on a new Tesla. Be sure to read the warranty carefully before you buy.

*if you can find the range on this listing I was interested in- let me know.  My old lady eyes couldn’t find it https://www.hertzcarsales.com/rent2buy/Tesla/2021-Tesla-Model+3-a7449b0e0a0e084c139c842c163a6a7e.htm

Go electric ✌️
