-Resembles a skateboard as the base of the vehicle
-Includes battery mounted in the floor
(with/out electric motors in them)
-also comprised of electronics that are necessary to operate vehicle without mechanical controls (drive-by-wire or X-by-wire)
-Provides a lower center of gravity/ improves handling
-Roomier interior space
-Allows for Frunks (Front Trunks)

Allows for manufacturers use of multiple vehicle “shells” on top
– OEM can modify as needed for different body configurations (platform sharing)
– Lowers cost by not having as many parts
– Easier to repair with modular parts
